Develop education based on community’s needs
Initial purpose of the school was to teach English and French as a supplement to the education supplied by the Cambodian government. As many pupils were lacking basic knowledge it became necessary to expand education scope. School program now includes 4 levels of English, 2 levels of Khmer and initiation to French. Volunteers, Americans and French, worked with the school staff to set up a program, define education rules and practices and enable a learning environment.
One of the main challenge is to find teachers in Cambodia. Most of educated people disappeared during Khmer Rouge period and isolation of the school is making even more difficult to find experienced teachers in school area. After several attempts to attract them from surrounding villages we now rely on a team of talented young teachers who are pursuing their study while working at school.
We are supporting them with coaching, weekly meetings and training sessions, feed backs and sharing of experience.
